Kidman's Christmas Gift - Keith out of Rehab

The couple could not celebrate Christmas together, but the happy times are back again for Nicole Kidman and hubby Keith Urban, when the two lovers reunited in Sydney after Keith’s treatment for drug dependency.

Just like Keith proved to be a great warrior in fighting with the demon drink, he has also proved to be a great husband, and his battle to save his marriage began with a simple step yesterday- taking Kidman for a movie.

It was the first time that the couple was seen in public since Keith’s admission to the Betty Ford Hospital in the US.

In the late 1990’s, Keith battled cocaine addiction. However, he checked into Cumberland Heights, a treatment centre in Nashville in 1998 and was determined to give up the habit, after going through a bumpy life.

On October 2006, Keith checked into the Betty Ford Clinic to fight against alcohol abuse. He issued a press release about addressing his challenge, noting his appreciation for the "support and the unwavering strength of my wife, family and friends" and adding that he felt "calm and optimistic about the future and with finally coming to terms with the reality of my condition." Due to checking into the rehab, he had cancelled his appearances on ‘Rove Live’, the 2006 ARIA Awards and the 2006 CMA Awards.

Although Keith missed the Christmas union just by a few hours, his return on early Tuesday came as a pleasant surprise for everyone close to him.

Media reported that Keith was looking fresher and beamed with joy. He was seen casually dressed in blue jeans and a loose, blue striped shirt, holding hands with his Oscar-winning wife at Clarence St headquarters of United International Pictures for a private movie screening.

Kidman too appeared calm, with flowers in her blonded red hair and wearing a boho-inspired lavender dress.

The Oscar winning actress has been in Sydney since before Christmas and is working for her new movie in Australia. This is the second time Keith is visiting the actress’s hometown. The last he visited was for their lavish wedding in June.

The home reunion was however sullied due to allegations imposed by Amanda Wyatt, Keith’s past fling, who reported of having an affair with the singer just months before he wed Kidman on June 25.

Amanda also claims that while Kidman was away for a shoot in Europe, she had a salacious encounter with Keith at a Nashville nightspot.

In the shocking and unverified report, the 23 year old said that she was "sorry if I hurt Nicole but I want to tell the truth and move on".

"I hope that she finds happiness with him but Keith is a deeply troubled man," she added.

Born on October 26, 1967, in Whangarei, North Island, New Zealand, Keith recorded his first solo album in 1990, which proved to be great success and charted four number 1 hits in Australia. He moved to Nashville in 1992 to trail the largest country music market in the world.

In Nashville, he began as the front singer for “The Ranch”, but soon left the group to embark on a solo career.

He released his self-titled American debut in 2000, and the album bagged him the Top New Male Vocalist Award at the 2001 Academy of Country Music Awards. ‘Golden Road’ was released in 2002, and the single ‘Somebody Like you’ sky rocketed his career. The single spent nine successive weeks at the top of the charts, remaining at Number 1 longer than any other country artist in 2002. The album also went platinum wherever it was released and triple platinum in the US.

The record for the highest debuting county single, which was held by Garth Brooks' ‘Good Ride Cowboy’, was broken by Keith on August 21, 2006, when his single ‘Once in a Lifetime’ hit the screens. He made history with the single as it became the highest-debuting country single (#17) in the 62 year history of Billboard's country charts.

Before walking down the aisle with Nicole, Keith has dated veterinary technician Laura Sigler and former supermodel Niki Taylor for eight and three years respectively.
