Crude oil prices rise with winter weather

New York -- Winter weather boosted confidence in energy markets Monday morning with crude oil prices rising to close to $79 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The price of light, sweet crude added 68 cents overnight in New York to $78.73 per barrel. Heating oil prices rose 0.0331 cents to $2.0687 per gallon.
Reformulated gasoline prices rose 0.0299 cents to $2.0195 per gallon. Natural gas prices added 0.264 cents to $5.907 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the national average price of unleaded gasoline rose to $2.603 per gallon Monday, up from Sunday's $2.60, AAA said.
