Dearborn -- U.S. automaker Ford Motor Co. said it had settled "all substantive" issues with Chinese automaker Geely for a sale of its Swedish brand Volvo.

Ford released a statement that said it "confirms settlement of all substantive commercial terms" in negotiations to sell Volvo to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Company Limited.

The statement did not include a price for the Swedish brand that Ford purchased in 1999 for $6.4 billion, a price far above what it expected to realize from the sale during a depressed global economy.

Ford said, "some work still remains to be completed before signing," but that it anticipated the deal would close in early 2010.
