Ty Murray eliminated from 'Dancing with the Stars'

New York, May 13: Super-cowboy Ty Murray on Tuesday night got booted off the "Dancing with the Stars" competition in Los Angeles, becoming the latest celebrity cast out from the show.

Murray’s elimination
Murray, a rodeo cowboy who is married to singer Jewel, and his professional partner Chelsie Hightower received a score of 48 out of 60, the lowest points, from the judges during this week's show.

The champion bull rider lost out after his scores of Monday night’s two dances he performed with his pro partner were combined with the home viewer votes that were cast immediately following the broadcast.

On Monday night, Murray and Hightower had received 25 out of 30 points for their Viennese waltz and 23 out of 30 points for their samba routine.

The pair became the tenth couple eliminated from DWTS’ eighth season during Saturday night's live results show broadcast on ABC.

"I got a whole new respect for what these guys do," said Murray after being eliminated. "It's so hard. You know, I've [told] Chelsie, trying to teach me to dance is like trying to teach a blind guy to paint. I don't understand what makes it look better. I can see that I'm not doing as good as the other people but I don't really know how to make it better, I just try to remember the steps."

"I feel so honored to have gotten Ty for my first season [on Dancing with the Stars]," Hightower added. "He's so down-to-earth and he's such a good guy and I could not have asked for a better celebrity, I'm so happy for him. And proud of mind, I'm so proud of him, oh my gosh!"

The ballroom audience gave a standing ovation to the nine-time world champion rodeo cowboy Murray on farewell night.

Judges’ comments on Murray’s performances
Head Judge Len Goodman also praised Murray, saying: "If the others have climbed hills, you've climbed mountains. With that dedication and work ethic, you've been a credit to everyone on the show."

After Murray’s dance performances on Monday, Judge Carrie Ann Inaba had named him "the most valuable player of season eight".

After the elimination of Murray and Hightower, the Dancing with the Stars’ final comes down to the Sex and the City actor Giles Marini and his partner Cheryl Burke, Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson and her partner Mark Ballas and reality-TV contestant Melissa Rycroft and her professional partner Tony Dovolani.

The three remaining finalists will perform on next Monday's final performance show and the eighth-season’s champion will be crowned on Tuesday (May 19) night's season-finale broadcast.
