Have money, will spend? Here are the top three cell phones to lighten up your wallet a bit

HTC T-Mobile G1: HTC’s dream mobile, also marketed as T-Mobile G1 in Europe & U.S., is an Internet enabled smart-phone with an operating system designed by Google and hardware designed by HTC.

As of April 2009, it is the only phone in the market that uses the Google Android operating platform. Android is an OS which allows the developers to write managed code in Java language via Google developed Java libraries.

Though it is not as pretty as the i-Phone, it certainly packs a punch with great features such as a touch-screen with an instant access to all applications just a finger-touch away, a unique pattern of locking-unlocking your phone to keep your data secure, a QWERTY keyboard, a GPS system, a one-touch Google search, a 3G Network and Wi-Fi access, a 3.2 mp camera, music player and memory extendable up-to 8GB. Would it be fair to ask for more features?

Price - $179.99 plus monthly service fees

BlackBerry Storm: With the BlackBerry Niagara contemplating a May 2009 release with nothing about its features yet officially announced, the BlackBerry Storm remains as the latest edition to the BlackBerry series.

BlackBerrys have a reputation of being business-oriented and e-mail focused mobiles, but the new BlackBerry Storm 9530 caters to a wider audience with a unique touch-screen and cutting-edge multimedia capabilities.

It not only comes loaded with the usual Wireless e-mail and maps but also a 3.2mp camera, Bluetooth, music player that supports almost all files, a touch-screen, a built-in GPS, a screen size of 3.25inches and a slot for microSD memory card. Indeed, a stylized business phone from BlackBerry this time!

Stand-out Feature – Brilliant Mobile Web Browsing

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1: Launched in the last quarter of 2008 to compete with the Apple’s iPhone, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 not only comes with a 3 inch touch screen, but also with a slide-down keyboard to quickly type out e-mails and messages.

With Wi-Fi network, an in-built GPS, easy access to Google Maps, an integrated 3.2mp camera, 3D and Java games, handwriting recognition software, a QWERTY keyboard, USB mass storage and an Operating System of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, this is certainly a hot buy.

Stand-out Feature – A huge keyboard that makes email on the move possible

Other cell-phones vying for the top-spot are:

Samsung i8510 for its 8mp camera;

Nokia N96 for its massive storage capacity of up to 24 GB and a 5mp camera;

The Apple iPhone for it being the best touch-screen phone around and;

Samsung’s Omnia i900 for its do-it-all Smartphone capabilities and a brilliant touch-screen.

Title: Phone Alert

Sounds like a great phone. Hopefully enough members of the open-source community would take notice and create great applications for it. Wish I could have one but, considering the costs of mobile internet in my country, maybe in a couple more years. I think I will wait and see how popular this phone becomes over the next year.
