Yahoo!-Linksys launch VoIP Cordless phone

Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems has joined hands with Yahoo! messenger to launch a new dual-mode which will allow the users to make and take low-cost Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls using Yahoo! Messenger with Voice as well as place and receive phone calls using their traditional landline/PSTN connection.

 <p>With its small color display users can scroll through their Yahoo Messenger contacts or search for a local business on the phone, called the CIT310. The USB base station provides people with the freedom to take their Yahoo! Messenger with Voice calls away from the PC and into other rooms just like any other mobile or cordless phone.</p>
<p>Programming the phone with a local zip code, will enable the people to search for any local business and effortlessly call the place with one click. Weather forecasts also become more accessible with the phone through its weather search setting.</p>

<p>100 free minutes will be initially given to the customers to make Yahoo! Phone Out calls to any traditional or mobile phone.</p>
<p>The Linksys Dual-Mode Cordless Phone for Yahoo! Messenger with Voice (CIT310) includes a handset with color display, and a USB base station that plugs into a computer’s USB port and a port for a traditional landline/PSTN connection and can be bought at an estimated street price of $99.99.</p>
