In an attempt to attract holiday shoppers, Apple updated its MacBook notebooks with faster versions of Intel Corp. computer chips.

The MacBook, based on the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, is available in three configurations- 1.83 GHz and 2.0 GHz with a white polycarbonate enclosure, and a 2.0 GHz model in a matte black case.

Microsoft announced that Windows Vista, the next version of the Windows operating system, is all set to go on sale from January 30, 2007.

The news of the release comes days after Microsoft revealed that Vista would be obtainable to commercial clientele from 30 November.
