London -- The Urban Music Awards show in London ended abruptly after two men in the audience were stabbed during a brawl.

The Times of London said police questioned hundreds of people about the fracas that broke out at the O2 arena during the weekend. One man was arrested.

Two men sustained knife wounds in the melee, which ended the show after it was only on for 90 minutes, the newspaper said. Estelle, Adele, Leona Lewis, Dizzee Rascal and Duffy were among the recording artists up for awards at Saturday's ceremony.

Awards show attendee Mark Hudson told The Times: "There's a reputation for these events that people carry knives, but there were no searches, no nothing.

I was worried about this before I came here. It was a big brawl, I would guess about 25 or 30 people, with chairs being thrown."

Newcomer lands lead in Mehta movie

Mumbai-- Indian film director Deepa Mehta says she cast Vinay Virmani, a recent graduate of New York's Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, in her upcoming epic.

The Press Trust of India said Virmani will star with Akshay Kumar in Mehta's movie "Komagata Maru," which is inspired by the true story of how a Japanese ship in 1914 sailed from India and was refused entry into Canada because Indian passengers were aboard. The ship was then sent back to India where some of the Indian passengers were killed by the British.

Virmani is to play the central role of Mewa Singh, the man who assassinated William Charles Hopkinson, regarded as the principal conspirator in the historic "Komagata Maru" episode, PTI said.

"The arc of Mewa Singh's character begins as a young man of innocence filled with hope and ends with an enraged man transformed by anger into a seeker for justice. I wanted a new fresh face to render this role and after much consideration I selected Vinay," Mehta said in a statement released Monday.
