Actress Claire Danes gets engaged to beau Hugh Dancy

Los Angeles, February 7: Actress Claire Danes and her British beau Hugh Dancy have become engaged, a rep for the couple confirmed Friday to People.

The 29-year-old actress Danes and 33-year-old English actor Dancy have been dating for almost two years. The couple first met on the set of the 2007 movie, “Evening”.

The “My So-Called Life” babe confirmed on the Jun. 27, 2007 episode of Late Show with David Letterman that she is dating Dancy, the son of eminent British philosopher Jonathan Dancy.

The two were recently spotted together stepping out at the Screen Actors Guild and Directors Guild awards in Los Angeles.

Born Claire Catherine Danes on Apr. 12, 1979 in New York City, Danes is a Golden Globe Award-winner and Emmy Award-nominated film, television, and theater actress.

Danes rose to fame as the teen heroine of “My So-Called Life”, the 1994 television drama series in which she starred as Angela Chase and won a Golden Globe Award and received an Emmy nomination.

Besides her appearances in the films "Romeo + Juliet", "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines", and "Stardust", Danes also acted in Gillian Armstrong's 1994 adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic Little Women, in which Danes starred as the saintly, sickly Beth.

Danes recently finished filming the drama-romance flick “Me and Orson Welles”, co-starring Zac Efron and Ben Chaplin. The film is expected to be released in U.S. theaters later this year.

Meanwhile Dancy is ready for a big screen comeback with his upcoming comedy “Confessions of a Shopaholic”, starring alongside Australian actress Isla Fisher.

Danes previously was romantically involved with Australian singer Ben Lee before ending their relationship in 2003. Beginning in 2004, the actress had falled for actor Billy Crudup. Their relationship ended in Dec. 2006. Before meeting Dancy, she has also dated Andrew Dorff, actor Stephen Dorff's younger brother, and Matt Damon.

Likewise, Dancy was romantically involved with his long term girlfriend, UK artist Annie Morris.
