Las Vegas, January 7: The Taiwan-based multinational company Asus is known well for coming out with new and innovative ideas time and again. Now, the company is planning to launch EeePC T91, a tablet style PC soon.
For tech-savy people who like compact and light gizmos, the T91 will probably be the best buy for them in near future. Asus has already generated a lot of buzz in the market with its EeePC touch netbook.
No computer or hardware manufacturer has talked about Tablet PC for years but it is evident now that Asus has some different plans and ideas.
Asus unveiled an archetype version of the Tablet EeePC T91 at a press conference in Las Vegas. EeePC T91 is a convertible tablet-style notebook, the company said.
This version is different from tablet PCs. It is embedded with many unique features. It is touch-sensitive, which means that the user can point to an icon with his finger or the stylus (provided along the tablet) to select or open it. This feature makes browsing really convenient for the user and virtually does all the functions performed by the mouse.
An underpowered netbook EeePC T91 weighs approximately 2.1 pounds, has 1-inch thickness and an 8.9-inch LED backlit touch panel which is meant to function on Intel's Z520 Atom processor.
EeePC T91 is just like a notebook, its 8.9-inch screen can be rotated in any direction (swivel screen) and it can be folded over the keyboard. After folding the device, it becomes compact and small like a tablet. When it is unfolded, the screen moves up to expose the keyboard.
Asus representatives stated that the introductory price of the T91 will be relatively lower and it will most probably run a Linux’s version.
Its value added features include a TV tuner and an in-built GPS which are meant to enchant the buyers. As per company, the T91 will hit the market in March 2009 and it’s another version T101 will soon follow suit with few different features and modifications.
The new version of EeePC is designed carefully to suit the basic needs and requirements of the potential users. The company has endeavored to integrate different and highly useful features in this netbook, the company representatives remarked.
