An excellent assortment of hip-hop, punk, disco, metal, soul-singing and rock has made it to the musical nomination for the 2009 induction process of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. For the first time in 23 years history, the tickets to the induction event will be available to the public to experience the live performances.

Just for the sake of formal introduction, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, located in Cleveland, Ohio was established in 1986 and is legendary in uplifting and recognizing achievements of some of the best-known and most influential musicians, songwriters, producers, bands, disc jockeys, artists for the renowned rock attraction and others who have influenced the music industry. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominates the artists each year who are further short listed by a poll and then pushed ahead to the grand induction ceremony.

About 9 to12 artists are nominated by a nominating committee consisting of roughly 1000 experts which includes academicians, journalists, producers and others with music industry experience. The nominations are for following categories: Performers, Non-Performers, Early Influences, and Sidemen. Performers is the most famed category and gets new inductees every year but to be eligible for this category an artist has to have a minimum of 25 year track record in the music industry.

The nominees are further short listed by a panel of about 500 rock experts through means of voting. About 5 of the nominees who fetch maximum votes and more than 50 percent of the votes make a cut to the induction ceremony. This ceremony is a grand colorful event with unique performances and after more than a decade it’s going to be conducted in its home town Cleveland in 2009.

22 Sept., 2008 unfolded the names of the nominees for induction in 2009 and the list consisted of: guitarist Jeff Beck, disco band Chic, Wanda Jackson - first rock 'n' roll queen, Little Anthony and the Imperials-Rhythm and blues vocal group, Metallica - the heavy metal band that recently released its record breaking album "Death Magnetic", Run-DMC - extraordinary hip-hop trailblazers, The Stooges - rock band that has recently contributed to the film "Juno", War-punk band group and Bobby Womack - singer/songwriter/guitarist.

Out of the selected names of musical nominees - Chic, the Stooges and Jackson got nominated in past years but could not make it to the induction.

The names of the final 5 who fetch maximum votes will be announced in Jan, 2009 and perform in the 24th annual Induction Ceremony, to be held on 4 Apr, 2009 in Cleveland.

An overwhelming surprise for the fans is that for the first time, tickets to the induction ceremony will be available to the public to experience the live performances of rock artists along with the members of Hall of Fame.
