Michelle Obama, wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, has grabbed the number one position on Vanity Fair Magazine’s 2008 International Best Dressed.

The Potential future First Lady Michelle, whose husband wants to be head of state, topped the 69th annual International Best-Dressed List, beating out some stiff competitors including “Sex and the City” fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker, former model and French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Prince William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton, the most beautiful woman Angelina Jolie and “Chronicles of Narnia” star Tilda Swinton.
VF called Michelle their “commander-in-sheath."
In regards to the men, the soccer symbol David Beckham topped the list. Beckham’s spouse, ex-Posh Spice, was not named to this year’s Vanity Fair list. Also, Kanye West, Daniel Craig and Matt Lauer were among the well-dressed males.
For the second consecutive year, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were named the best-dressed couple in the 69th annual style poll. Kelly Lynch and Mitch Glazer were the other haute couple.
Daniel Craig, the actor who played James Bond in "Casino Royale" and the upcoming "Quantum of Solace", made his debut in the top. The 007 agent is on the magazine's International Best-Dressed List. Also making the list are rapper Kanye West and “Today” show anchor Matt Lauer.
The names are conceived by the magazine's editorial staff and appear in the September issue of Vanity Fair on August 1.
