" title="'Barbershop' actor Carl Wright dies" /> Chicago -- Carl Wright, an actor appearing in films such as "Barbershop" and "Soul Food," has died at his home in Chicago at the age of 75. The performer, who began his career as a tap dancer and comedian, died Saturday of cancer, Zap2it.com reported. Born in Orlando, Fla., Wright began his career traveling around the world as a tap dancer. During his career, he also worked as a comedian, emcee and songwriter. He began his movie career later in life, appearing in "Barbershop" and its sequel, plus "Big Momma's House," "Soul Food," "Just Visiting" and "The Cookout." Wright is survived by his wife, Shirley, three daughters and a grandchild. -- |
