In Friday's other quarterfinal matches, No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal beat fifth-seeded Fernando Gonzalez, 6-4, 6-4, extending his clay-court winning streak to 80 matches, former world No. 1 Carlos Moya topped fourth-seeded Novak Djokovic 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 7-5, while 16th-seeded Lleyton Hewitt downed Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 6-4.
