" title="American Idol: Melinda Doolittle makes a shocking exit"/> Another shock exit at ‘American Idol’ has spiced up things for the popular television talent show. Wednesday night’s vote tally revealed that viewers chose to send back the very professional, Melinda Doolittle to watch Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis, lock horns for the title. Melinda Doolittle, 29, came with years of experience as a back-up singer and had convinced us at one point of time that she is the most probable winner of the sixth season of ‘American idol’ but quite astonishingly, got voted out in a close contest. She might not have won the contest but needless to say, she won hearts – of the judges and those of the audience. Ryan Seacrest seemed floored and after reading out the results he said to Melinda “You’ve got a lot to do in the future. A lot of good things are going to happen to you.” “You already have made it,” said Paula Abdul, one of the three judges, trying to cheer her. Another judge, Simon Cowell, who has supported Doolittle throughout as a singer, was all praise for her. “Congratulations to you two,” he said to the finalists and turned to the third-place finisher. “My commiserations to you, Melinda because you are one heck of a singer” he said. And we could not have agreed less, she is indeed, a terrific singer. Moving on to the contest, Melinda’s departure leaves the stage for Blake Lewis, 25, and Jordin Sparks, 17, to give their best shot at a point, this close to the title. Lewis, a full-time musician has a magnetic personality and liveliness that works for him and luckily, is blessed with wisdom to use his greatest assets in his favor. As for Jordin Sparks, she sounds incredibly like a mature lady packed in a teenager’s body. Vocally, she definitely has an edge over Blake and it seems the managers of the show are keen to bring out something laudable out of those preternaturally expressive vocal cords. In recent weeks, she has emerged as a co-favorite alongside Melinda and her young age, should, with any luck work for her. The finalists were both shocked at learning that Melinda is the one among the three, who has been ousted. American idol has become such an event that even those who don’t win, don’t loose. The show has given stages to singers who were eliminated before the end. Hopefully, Melinda will join them but as they say ‘nothing succeeds like success.’ |

Definitely a bit shocked that Melinda has been voted out. Undoubtedly, she is fantastic with her vocals. My guess would be that the American audience did not see star-quality in her. The wow-factor was missing. Jordin is certainly being groomed by the producers of the show to carry the title home, but Blake is going to give her a solid run for her money. Probably he will steal the title from right under her nose. He is a fantastic entertainer packed with talent. He is certainly the most original performer in all the Idol season so far. No contestant has been able to grasp a song and make it his own the way Blake has done it so many times. Am sure he is going to perform a winner on the finale - only to be crowned the next Idol. Surely Jordin and Blake deserve to be where they are now.
