Nokia 7380- the sleek handsetby Deepika Garg - August 24, 2006 - 0 comments
All dressed up in a lovely attire, a young lady gets ready to rock the party. She holds her bulky PDA cell phone in one hand and her petite clutch bag in the other. Sounds inconvenient? But the lady here has an option. She replaces the small SIM chip into what looks like a mere lipstick, holds it back to look in its mirror for a final make-up check and flings it in her bag. This stick-like gadget that slips easily into her bag is the Nokia 7380. Nokia 7380 is as much a fashion accessory as it is a communication tool. It's slim body and elegant design make it a piece worth flaunting. Its sheer looks might make you wonder if it is only a dumb-bombshell but as you dive in deeper you will come to realize that it’s more than that. This ravishing beauty has a 2.0-megapixel integrated camera, FM radio and MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity, Internet access via WAP 2.0 browser, lightning fast data transfer speeds and voice command responsiveness. The cell phone measures 114mm x 30mm x 20mm and weighs only 80 grams. The screen gracing the Nokia 7380 has resolution of 104 x 208 pixels and the display is an abundance of colors. When the phone is idle the screen serves as a mirror due to it's glassy appearance. Now the surprising part: this device lacks a typical 10-button keypad. Entering phone numbers in the traditional way or sending long text messages is just impractical. Calls can be made by using a few buttons and a spinner interface. Users are more likely to rely on their address book or the recent call list to dial numbers. “Took a while to get used to the dial instead of a keypad but once I got the hang of it there is no going back. The dial is great it gives you the next 5-6 letters most common after the one you have just selected, so much better than the guess the word functions of the keypad variety” says a young Nokia 7380 fan. This cell phone can be a good investment if you want to look stylish and are tired of carrying those bulky handsets. But if you want hassle free dialing than it is advisable to keep it as a second phone used when you don’t want to carry much weight. This phone has not been launched in the U.S. as the Americans are not accustomed to the idea of having more that one cell hence it's being marketed as a second phone. |
