Fans greet Apple's first Hong Kong store

As Apple Inc. inaugurated its first store in Hong Kong Saturday, thousands gathered to welcome the technology giant.

Scores of Apple fans camped outside International Financial Center Mall, the city’s posh most business area, to be among the first to enter Apple’s inaugural store.

Apple’s Hong Kong store comes after it opened its third store in Shanghai Friday.

The California-based giant which already has two outlets in Beijing, is gradually spreading its wings in the Chinese province, as it is the key market for consumer electronics and computers, explain tech analysts.

Apple claims that demand for its products are growing mainland China.

Apple products popular in Hong Kong
Apple enthusiasts in Hong Kong queued up in front of the store to own Apple products which they feel meet both price and quality requirements.

Liu Jia-rong, a 17-year-old high school student from Shenzhen lined up since 4 p.m. Friday and was among the first few to enter the Apple store.

Jia-rong, who was all excited about the Apple store near his place, was quoted by Mail.com as saying, “I've always wanted to participate in this kind of event, to enjoy the atmosphere. It's cool.”

Meanwhile, Henry Men Youngfan, a 27-year-old doctoral student who already uses four Apple products said, "I don't want to buy anything, I actually have everything already. I just want to feel the experience,"

Apple eying Chinese market
Analyst said that Apple already predicted the kind of response, so is ensured tight security arrangements.

Surprisingly, Apple welcomed its first 5,000 entries by giving out free T-shirts.

Meanwhile Biz experts suggest Apple’s expansion in China region was quite expected as its revenue from the region jumped over six times over a year.

Apple's chief operating officer, Timothy Cook said in July this year, "I firmly believe that we're just scratching the surface right now. I think there is an incredible opportunity for Apple there.”
