NHL: Philadelphia 5, New Jersey 3
Philadelphia -- Claude Giroux, Mike Richards and Danny Briere scored consecutive goals over the last two periods Saturday to bring Philadelphia a 5-3 victory over New Jersey.
The Flyers ended a three-game losing streak during which they scored only three times. Philadelphia came into the game with the second-highest goal total in the NHL at 87.
Philadelphia trailed 2-1 heading into the second period, but Giroux tied it in the opening minute of the middle stanza.
Richards and Briere then scored during the first 10 minutes of the third. New Jersey's Patrik Elias gave Philadelphia a brief scare by producing a power-play goal with 44 seconds remaining in regulation to pull the Devils within one, but Jeff Carter scored into an empty net with 2 seconds to go.
New Jersey lost its second straight.
Sergei Bobrovsky picked up his 13th win of the season with 22 saves. Johan Hedberg allowed four goals on 29 shots.
