NBA: LA Lakers 99, Minnesota 94

Los Angeles -- The Los Angeles Lakers, riding a combined 40 points from Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol, remained unbeaten Tuesday by edging lowly Minnesota 99-94.

Bryant led the way with 22 points and Gasol added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers, whose 44.9 percent shooting mark was still better than the 38 percent turned in by the Timberwolves, who also turned the ball over 27 times.

Lamar Odom added 15 points to the Lakers' total. Ron Artest scored 13 as Los Angeles notched its eighth straight win to start the season.

Minnesota's Kevin Love scored 23 points and grabbed a career high 24 rebounds, including 11 on the offensive boards. Michael Beasley scored 17 points.

The T-Wolves, now 1-7, led 69-68 midway through the third quarter but made just two field goals the rest of the period. Meanwhile, the Lakers took off on a 14-2 burst that gave them the lead heading into the final quarter.

The Timberwolves outscored the Lakers 20-17 in the fourth quarter.
