Saints trump Halloween in New Orleans
New Orleans -- Folks in New Orleans said they had their Halloween parties a day early this year to avoid a conflict with Sunday night's Saints football game.
With more than 70,000 ticket-holders for the contest and thousands more planning to watch the Saints-Steelers clash on television Sunday, there were scores of Halloween events moved to Saturday, the New Orleans Times-Picayune said.
"It wasn't much of a conflict," Scott Shea, 47, told the newspaper. "If we were not at the game, we were going to be inside the living room watching it. We were not going to be outside trick-or-treating."
A slew of festivals and other larger events, including a concert by Ozzy Osbourne took place during the day Saturday.
Halloween won't be completely banned from the Crescent City and its suburbs, the newspaper said. Some residents said they would still be handing out candy at their homes, but would have a TV on the front porch to monitor the game.
