Lopez beats Nadal; Murray also out

London -- World No. 1 Rafael Nadal was beaten by Feliciano Lopez in a tight two-set quarterfinal match Friday at the Aegon Championships in London.

Nadal saw a 24-match winning streak end at the hands of Lopez 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Lopez won just three more points (73-70) on the day but his ability for finish off all three break-point situations he created against Nadal turned out to be the difference.

No. 3-seeded Andy Murray, the defending Aegon champion, was also ousted Friday when Mardy Fish finished off a match suspended Thursday because of darkness. Fish eliminated Murray 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (7-2) and then headed off to a quarterfinal match, which he took 6-4, 6-4 over Michael Llodra.

Fish has 11 aces and lost 10 points in 10 service games against Llodra.

Other quarterfinals Friday saw seventh-seeded Sam Querrey defeat Xavier Malisse 6-3, 7-5 and Rainer Schuettler upset 14th-seeded Dudi Sela 7-5, 6-4.

Lopez draws Fish in one of Saturday's semifinals with Querrey and Schuettler going in the other.
