Man wins jackpot after casino self-ban

Erie, Pa. -- Pennsylvania police said a man who banned himself from the state's casinos won a $2,001 jackpot he will not be able to keep.

The Pennsylvania State Police gaming enforcement office said the 55-year-old man had banned himself from the state's casinos under a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board program aimed at helping gambling addicts fight the temptation, the Erie (Pa.) Times-News reported Wednesday.

Police said the man, whose name was not released, forfeited his Friday winnings from the Presque Isle Downs & Casino in Erie and will now face a summary criminal trespass charge. They said he signed up for the self-exclusion program in April 2009.

Officials said 1,351 Pennsylvania residents have registered for the program.
