The two will repeat the final of last week's Buenos Aires tournament, which Ferrero won.
In the day's first semifinal match on the clay courts of the Fairmont Acapulco Princess, No. 3 seed Ferrero advanced when his opponent, Argentine Juan Monaco, retired with an abdominal strain after losing the first set 7-5.
The win marked the 14th straight win for Ferrero.
In the second Acapulco semifinal, No. 4 seed Ferrer hung on to down second-seeded Fernando Gonzalez of Chile 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 6-4.
Ferrer has a 7-8 career record in finals, and despite his loss to Ferrero in Buenos Aires, owns a 5-2 lifetime mark against his countryman.
