The 18th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party is to take place March 7 at the Pacific Design Center.
The evening's festivities are to include a cocktail reception, followed by a formal dinner and viewing of the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, as well as an auction and performance by a special soon-to-be-announced musical artist, organizers said Wednesday.
Last year's gala raised $4 million.
"Beginning with a modest dinner that raised $300,000 in 1993, EJAF's Academy Awards Viewing Party has grown into a multimillion dollar annual benefit that has raised approximately $25 million to date for the foundation's life-saving programs," EJAF Director Scott Campbell said in a statement. "But these achievements only address a small portion of the enormous need that already exists and that is growing at the rate of 10 more people every minute. We have a huge task ahead of us, and we are deeply grateful to our supporters and friends around the world for joining us in this vital cause."
