NHL: Buffalo 2, Calgary 1 (SO)

Buffalo -- Jason Pominville's shoot-out goal Friday boosted the Buffalo Sabres to a 2-1 victory against the Calgary Flames.

It marked the Flames' eighth straight loss to the Sabres, dating to the 1996-97 season.

Buffalo's Derek Roy (power play) scored his fourth goal this season with just over three minutes left in the third period, creating a 1-1 tie.

Net-minder Ryan Miller stopped 25-of-26 shots in regulation for the Sabres, who at 5-0-0, remained unbeaten this season against Western Conference opponents.

Daymond Langkow scored the lone goal, while goalie Miikka Kiprusoff made 32 saves on 33 shots for the Flames, whose season-high four-game winning streak ended.

On the power play, Buffalo went 1-for-4 and Calgary went scoreless on its man-advantage opportunities.
