U2 plans free gig at Brandenburg Gate

Berlin -- U2's manager has confirmed the Irish rock band will perform a free concert at Brandenburg Gate to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall.

The BBC said footage from the Nov. 5 concert also will be shown via satellite at the MTV Europe Music Awards presentation that night in the German capital.

"It'll be an exciting spot to be in, 20 years almost to the day since the wall came down. Should be fun," U2 manager Paul McGuinness told the BBC.

U2 recorded its album "Achtung Baby" in Berlin's Hansa Studios in 1990.
