Women's U.S. Open semis postponed

New York, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Daylong rains Friday forced the postponement the scheduled women's semifinals at the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament.

The scheduled matches -- second-seeded and former world No. 1 Serena Williams vs. Kim Clijsters and No. 9 Caroline Wozniacki vs. Yanina Wickmayer -- were moved to Saturday. The women's final was moved to Sunday.

Rains also led to the postponement of the suspended men's quarterfinal match between Rafael Nadal and Fernando Gonzalez. It is to be played Saturday.
