Slow crop progress pushing grain futures

Chicago -- Grain futures closed mixed on the Chicago Board of Trade Tuesday as the dollar made gains late in the day against the euro and the yen.

Corn was up 1 1/4 to up 2 1/4, soybeans were up 8 to up 19 1/2, wheat was off 12 1/2 to off 12 3/4 and oats were off 2 3/4.

Corn futures climbed as season-long slow crop progress season moved into a delayed start to the harvest season. Wheat futures fell with beneficial rain reported in Australia. Soybean futures also climbed as traders suspect a late harvest could result in lower yields.
