MLB: Chicago White Sox 4, Kansas City 2

Chicago -- Jose Contreras broke a six-start losing streak Wednesday, keying the Chicago White Sox' 4-2 victory over Kansas City.

Contreras (5-11) surrendered a run o three hits with a walk in seven innings. He struck out eight in his best outing this season.

Matt Thornton gave up a run and two hits in 1 1/3 innings, while closer Bob Jenks earned his 26th save, striking out the two batters he faced in the ninth.

Chicago's Gordon Beckham, Carlos Quentin and Alex Rios each hit solo homers. Paul
Konerko doubled in Scott Podsednik, who also had doubled, to open the scoring for the White Sox, who have won four of six.

Kansas City's runs scored on solo homers by Mark Teahen and David DeJesus.
Zack Greinke (11-8) was the losing pitcher for the Royals, who have lost four of six.
