Crude oil prices fall sharply

New York -- Crude oil prices fell sharply on the New York Mercantile Exchange Monday, dropping below $68 per barrel after a stock rally fell flat last week.

Crude oil prices peaked above $72 per barrel last week. On Monday, prices fell $1.92 to $67.63 per barrel. Heating oil prices lost 0.0447 cents to $1.742 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline slid 0.057 cents to $1.8674 per gallon. Natural gas prices dropped 0.011 cents to $4.021 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.69 Monday, down from Sunday's $2.693 a gallon, AAA said.
