Crude oil top $72 per barrel

New York -- Crude oil prices topped $72 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange Thursday with the weak dollar and rising demand for gasoline providing support.

Crude oil prices gained $1.13 to $72.42 per barrel. Heating oil prices gained 0.0196 cents to $1.8512 per gallon. Reformulated blendstock gasoline rose 0.0469 cents to $2.0584 per gallon. Natural gas prices rose 0.225 cents to $3.939 per million British thermal units.

At the pump, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was
$2.632 Thursday, up from Wednesday's $2.627 a gallon, AAA said.
