Chocolate figurines recalled in Canada

Ottawa -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning people allergic to egg protein not to consume certain Chocolaterie de l'Ile d'Orleans-brand products.

The CFIA and the Quebec manufacturer say decorated chocolate figurines sold by the company have colored eyes, hearts and flowers that contain undeclared egg protein. The product is sold in clear plastic bags with two labels -- one bearing the name "Chocolaterie de l'Ile d'Orleans" and another listing the type of chocolate, ingredients and a nutritional facts table.

The recalled decorated figurines are made of milk, dark or white chocolate and were sold in Quebec. The CFIA said consumption of the products can cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in people with allergies to egg protein.
