In a landmark deal, Microsoft Corp. has acquired internet phone company Skype Technologies SA, reps for both the companies announced Tuesday. Placing its biggest bet yet, the Redmond software giant paid $8.5 billion in cash to buy VoIP provider Skype Global.

Google Inc. on Wednesday launched a fashion e-commerce site Boutiques.com, which the search giant says will let online shoppers find and discover fashion goods through collections put together by celebrities, stylists, designers, and fashion bloggers.

Goodrich Corporation, (NYSE: GR), the global supplier of systems and services to the aerospace and defense industries, has acquired UK-based Crompton Technology Group, Ltd. (CTG).

Confirming the takeover, Jack Carmola, Segment President, Actuation and Landing Systems at Goodrich, stated "This acquisition allows Goodrich to benefit from this expected growth and to expand our composite capabilities into a broader range of Goodrich systems. We intend to leverage CTG's proprietary technology across a number of Goodrich products to benefit commercial and military customers worldwide.”

Twitter acquires Mixer Labs to improve Tweet locations

Los Angeles, December 25:The micro-blogging Website Twitter has enhanced geolocation services provided on its messaging service by buying the location tracking start-up Mixer Labs, the company said on Wednesday. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
