UCLA captures last football bowl bid

Washington -- UCLA captured college football's last bowl berth Saturday when Army lost to Navy in the annual service academy contest in Philadelphia.

The Bruins (6-6) finished the regular season winning three of their last four games, and will play Temple (9-2) at the EagleBank Bowl Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Washington's RFK Stadium, the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

"This is a great match-up between two quality football programs that are on the rise," said Steve Beck, executive director of the EagleBank Bowl. "Both Rick Neuheisel at UCLA and Al Golden at Temple have guided the resurgence of their respective programs with talented coaching staffs and players. What a treat for the fans of both schools and the residents of Washington, D.C."

"We are excited to have the opportunity to play in the EagleBank Bowl," said Neuheisel.
