White House Christmas tree is from W. Va.

Washington -- This year's official White House Christmas tree will be an 18 1/2-foot-tall Douglas fir from Shepherdstown, W.Va., Michelle Obama's office said.

The tree is expected to arrive on the traditional horse-drawn carriage at the North Portico and to be presented to the first lady Friday afternoon.

After it's decorated, it will be on display in the White House's Blue Room throughout the holiday season, Obama's office said.
