Motorola to upgrade 4 devices to Ice Cream Sandwich

Android operating systems will not be upgraded by Google but rather by device manufacturers themselves.

Motorola's Droid Razr, Razr, Droid Bionic and tablet Xoom are going to be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich when Google releases it into the wild, the company posted on its website.

Motorola said it will come out with a timeline for the roll-out when the operating system is finally released.

Android operating systems will not be upgraded by Google but rather by device manufacturers themselves.

There is no word yet whether Motorola's other devices will be getting the upgrade; the company said it will provide guidance on that alongside the timeline.

Other manufacturers have not as yet made any announcements about upgrading their devices to Ice Cream Sandwich.

When Google introduced the operating system in October, Motorola had said Droid Razrs will get the upgrade in the first half of 2012.
