For the last few days, Richie has been battling a cold, which according to her rep has now developed into pneumonia.
Socialite responding well
The 28-year-old mother of two is currently undergoing treatment for the illness and doing well in the hospital.
"Nicole has checked into Cedars-Sinai, where she is being treated for pneumonia," the celebutante’s rep said in a statement to Us Weekly. "She is doing well."
Us reported that the reality TV star-turned-jewelry designer had to skip the Nov. 10 launch of her House of Harlow jewelry line at Bebe in L.A., citing illness.
Richie was looking ill when she appeared in court Monday looking for a restraining order against two paparazzi, who she claims rear-ended her car last month.
Richie was driving with an adult male passenger when two photographers, who were tailing her vehicle, struck the back end of her car, the Beverly Hills Police Department told People magazine at the time. She won restraining orders against the photographers.
Richie tweets about illness
The socialite previously had tweeted that she wasn't feeling well. "OK, cold, it's been 6 days," she wrote in a Twitter post over the weekend. "Let's part ways graciously & keep it moving."

Richie also told the celebrity magazine that her daughter is absolutely smitten with her younger brother. "I'm glad I had a girl before I had a boy," Richie said. "She just loves him so much." Madden added that their daughter is “very gentle” with her little brother.
Before meeting Madden, she dated DJ AM from 2003 to 2005. They broke up after a nine-month engagement. Richie was also briefly linked to childhood friend Brody Jenner of MTV's The Hills.
