Two years after the Mario Bros. game was last introduced, Nintendo is all set for the Sunday launch of "New Super Mario Bros. Wii".
To celebrate the Nov. 15 launch, Nintendo transformed its World Store at Rockefeller Plaza in New York, into a Mushroom Kingdom Saturday.
The event was indeed worthwhile for Mario fans as they were able to purchase the game one day in advance than the rest of the country, take a walk down the memory lane and play the earlier versions of Mario Bros, enjoy the great music from the Super Mario DJ, and a lot more.
20 years of Super Mario Bros
Even after more than 20 years, the game has retained every feature loved by the users. That does not mean that new features have not been incorporated.
'New Super Mario Bros. Wii' not only re-introduces the beloved character, it also promises a much better gaming experience.
There is no doubt that Mario will jump, land on platforms, throw fireballs at enemies etc, but new twists like ice flower and penguin suit have also been added.
Enemies, if hit with a frozen ball will become blocks of ice that you can pick up and throw.
The most interesting part of the game is the levels. The users will be seeing their beloved character swimming through water, ride on the backs of flying stingrays, travel on rafts etc.
After dying seven times, a green block will appear at the beginning of the stage, which will show Luigi play the game and pass through the sticky spots in different levels with minimum effort.
Further, the new game offers four players capability, unlike the earlier versions. So bring three of your friends to join you on the adventure.
In a game of two, one takes the lead and the other only tries to survive, but as the difficulty level increases the other will act as an anchor to help you pass blocks or enemies.
Mixed reactions from readers online
The upcoming launch has stirred a lot of readers online. Where majority of the readers have voiced excitement and are looking forward to the launch, there are some who are not impressed at all.
A reader named siegwulf posted his view on kotaku.com saying, “First thing I do when I get back from college; buy this game and play through it 3 times at least. Once alone, once with friends, and once with my bro and dad. Ahhh nostalgia how I love you.”
Another reader named mintycrys is HOT for Bayonetta commented on the same site, “While I didn't enjoy The New Super Mario Bros. on DS, I'm happy to hear about the difficulty. We need hard Mario games that are difficult because of their platforming mechanics, and not game design .I'll likely pick this up because I'm hankering for some tough platforming action.”
“Nintendo doesn't impress me anymore. I'm sorry, but there is nothing impressive about this game in my opinion. I used to love you guys, but now you're nothing special, Nintendo,” MarioHead on g4tv.com.
Dumb article
I hate "news" articles like this that don't really tell you anything. It's not a review, because the author hasn't played it. It's not news because it contains no facts. You could write an article on any topic saying it "has mixed reviews". What a waste. Don't write an article unless you have something important to say.
You are in error
Why would you draw an assumption that there is a mixed reaction to this release based on a few online comments?
You will find the same comments online about any game released within recent years. And the less said about the online reaction to MW2 the better...
OMG NSMBW IS UPON US!!!! YES!!!!
