Government collects Rs 1.12 lakh crore GST for August

In August, the government collected Rs 1.12 lakh crore in GST, significantly less than the Rs 1.16 lakh crore collected in July. The revenue was 30% greater than the same period the previous year.

The total CGST collected is Rs 20,522 crore, the SGST is Rs 26,605 crore, the IGST is Rs 56,247 crore (including Rs 26,884 crore collected on goods imports), and the Cess is Rs 8,646 crore (including Rs 646 crore collected on import of goods).

GST income has risen above Rs 1 lakh crore for two months in a row, indicating that the economy has recovered from the sluggishness caused by the localized lockdowns imposed to contain the second wave of the virus.
